Can your gesso be used to create texture without cracking occurring on the canvas?

Our gesso is made to surround and seal canvas fibers, creating a protective layer between the canvas and the paint. It isn't intended for use as an impasto medium or to create texture. Properly applied in several thin layers that build upon each other, the gesso should not crack.
