I've heard that PVA in gesso may cause paint to peel, crack or flake off a canvas. Does Art Alternatives Gesso contain PVA?

Our Art Alternative Gesso is an acrylic resin not a PVA system. In general, acrylics are superior resins. This is because they form "harder" films which will not degenerate with water submersion. In other words they have more film integrity. Most PVA's will yellow. Our acrylic, and most others, are non- yellowing; an important characteristic in gesso and white paints.

Most properties of acrylics are considered more desirable than PVA's, but acrylics are more expensive, thus the use of PVA's by the marketplace. For example, cheap interior house paints are PVA system-based.
